Ever since I started collecting watches, Universal Genève has always been my (Tommy’s) favourite brand. Although never quite on par with the likes of Patek Philippe in terms of finishing, UG was easily one of the most innovative and daring manufacturers, leaving behind a huge catalogue of incredible watches.
The reference 125.125 was UG’s take on the jump hour, coming from the 1990s during their Hong Kong ownership era. The 18k yellow gold stepped case houses the in-house calibre 25 movement. The silver dial features a simple running seconds subdial at the bottom, a minute track across the top, and a small window at 12 o’clock displaying the hour: jumping cleanly 24 times a day.
