Tudor, Rolex’s sister brand, has been making Submariners since 1954, starting with the reference 7922. They were conceived as a moderately priced alternative to the Rolex Submariner and were eventually discontinued in 1999. The 79090 that we have here was the last Tudor to have plexiglass, changing to sapphire with the 79190. This model was also the first of the Tudor Submariner line to reintroduce the Rolex Mercedes hands that we have become so used to seeing on the Rolex big brothers.

This watch is in stunning condition. The case shows minimal signs of polishing and remains thick with no dents. The markers and hands have a gentle patina, and the hands show some oxidisation on the chrome finish, commonly seen on these but not noticeable when worn on the wrist. The original P9 (Sept 91) stamped bracelet is one link short but will still accommodate a 19cm wrist comfortably.

The movement is running like the day it left the factory at +1 s/d, 300 amps with a beat error of 0.0. One of the true value propositions from Tudor, and a watch that will certainly bring a smile to your face.
