In late 1969, Tudor released the reference 7021, the first Tudor Submariner with a date function. The watch was offered with either a black or blue dial, a roulette date wheel, and later examples featured a standard all-black date wheel more commonly seen towards the end of production. The dial also introduced the now-famous “Snowflake” design.
The example we have here is the blue variant with the roulette date wheel, and it is easily the best one we have seen. The case is unpolished, the dial is pristine and does not suffer from the bubbling effect that some 7021 dials experience, and the tritium lume plots are all intact, having aged to a beautiful creamy colour. All the technicalities aside, this is simply one of the most beautiful sports watches we’ve had.
