It’s no secret that we love the little quirks within the Explorer II 16550/570 line-up, from the wide-font bezel on 16550s to the creamy tritium lume that sometimes develops on them. That said, those rare beauties can sometimes distract us from just how good the watch is in its standard form.

The present example dates to 2000 and features a Super-LumiNova dial. The 40 mm case has been lightly polished before and has very few marks. The movement arrived in excellent health, running at +3 seconds per day, with an amplitude of 285° and a beat error of 0.1 ms.
