Despite its short four-year production run, the 16550 went through several dial variations. Early examples featured white gold surrounds (WGS) on the hour markers, while later ones switched to black surrounds. 

The watch we have here features a black dial with WGS markers and is a brilliant example of how sports Rolexes can act as true time capsules, ageing beautifully over time. This 40-year-old watch has only been lightly polished in its life, with especially strong crown guards.
