The reference 14270 was in production for 11 years, starting in 1989. One of the most popular choices for a “one-watch collection,” the 14270 is easily one of the most versatile watches out there. During its production, Rolex made several subtle tweaks to the dial design, including blackout surrounds, tritium lume, and various lacquer and paint variations. The present example boasts a “Swiss-only” dial, which appeared for a short period between 1998 and 2000, when Rolex used Luminova on the hands and markers.
