How could you not love a 1016? Especially when it presents like this. This example dates to 1975 and features a Mk III dial—arguably the most balanced of the matte dial variants. The tritium lume on the dial and hands has aged to a beautiful creamy tone, contrasting perfectly against the flawless matte black dial. The case has retained much of its original thickness, and it’s perhaps no surprise that it has survived in such condition, having had only one owner before this.
A Mk III 1016 was one of the first vintage watches I (Tommy) owned; it kick-started the whole hobby, and I love them just as much today as I did on day one..
