The Omega Railmaster began its life in 1957 with reference CK2914, released alongside the Seamaster CK2913 and Speedmaster CK2915 to form the legendary “Master Trilogy.” The clue is in the name with this one — it was made for railway workers, scientists, and anyone operating around machinery that emitted strong electromagnetic fields. This was Omega’s answer to the Milgauss, which had been introduced a year earlier.

The Railmaster was one of Omega’s shortest-lived product lines, discontinued in 1963 due to declining sales. It wasn’t until 2003 that Omega relaunched the model. Finding these early examples in original configuration is extremely difficult. Rarity aside, it’s hard to describe just how beautiful they are on the wrist. The lume on the markers of this example has aged to a deep, creamy hue, which pops beautifully against the matte black dial, itself in fantastic condition. It complements the broad-arrow hands, which were relumed at a later stage.
