In 2000, Chopard surprised the watch world with one of haute horlogerie’s most interesting movements in quite some time — the L.U.C. Cal. 1.98, featuring four barrels and an impressive nine-day power reserve. Amazingly, the team led by Chopard co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele achieved all of this in a compact 38 mm case (ref. 16/1863), measuring only 9.5 mm thick.

The 16/1863 received COSC certification as well as the Geneva Seal. In 2007, the brand updated the “Quattro” line with the 16/1903 series (Mk II), and again in 2011 with the 16/1926 series (Mk III), which featured larger cases. This Mk II example was kept in perfect condition, and represent amazingly value in today's market.
