Around 1986, following the release of the 6595 Complete Calendar Moonphase and the ultra-thin 0021, Blancpain introduced their first Perpetual Calendar, the 5395. These were offered in several precious metals, steel, and bimetal configurations. This particular example is the 1318 variant, denoting a bimetal case and a white dial.

These watches truly have the wow factor in the flesh. Often overlooked in favour of more obvious haute horlogerie brands, they offer all the style, elegance, and mechanical craftsmanship, often for significantly less.
