The 16570 then enjoyed a substantial 22-year production run before being replaced by its larger 42 mm successor. Over this long lifespan, Rolex introduced numerous subtle changes to the dial, case, movement, and bracelet.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eIt’s no secret that we love the little quirks within the Explorer II line-up, from the wide-font bezel of the 16550 to the creamy tritium lume that sometimes develops on early examples. That said, those rare beauties can occasionally distract us from just how good the watch is in its standard form.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eIn this case, however, we have something even rarer: a true time capsule. This black-dial 16570 was purchased over 25 years ago in Haverfordwest (Stefano’s hometown, incidentally), yet has never been worn. The watch remains fully stickered and completely free of marks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eWe’ll leave it to the next owner to decide whether to wear it or become its next careful custodian.
